Stephens Co. Commission Meeting This Morning

Stephens County Commissioners are expected to finalize the millage rates for both the county government and the school system at a called meeting this morning.

The county commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

Only one item is on the meeting agenda.

That is for the commission to consider a motion to adopt the county millage rate at 13.41 mills and adopt the school board’s millage rate at 18.30 mills.

The county’s proposed millage rate is unchanged from last year, while the school system’s rate, unanimously approved already by the Board of Education, represents a 1.45 mill drop from last year.

Today’s 8:30 a.m. called meeting of the Stephens County Commission is open to the public.
