Stephens Co. Commission Meeting Today

Stephens County Commissioners will hold their first meeting for the month of July this morning.

Today’s Stephens County Commission meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

A brief agenda awaits Stephens County Commissioners.

First, commissioners will hold two public hearings.

The first one is on an alcohol license for V.K. Management for the Happy Food Mart and the second public hearing is a planning and zoning public hearing.

Then, commissioners will move into the work session to discuss items on the meeting agenda.

Only two items are on the meeting agenda.

They are a proposal for a conditional use request for a property on Virginia Drive in Eastanollee for a home base Internet sales business and proposed Fiscal Year 2016 budget amendments.

The business meeting to vote on agenda items follows immediately after the conclusion of the work session.

Today’s Stephens County Commission meeting is also the first in which the new meeting appearance policy will be in effect.

Under that policy, people are asked to fill out a meeting appearance form prior to speaking to the commission during the public comment portion of the meeting.
