Stephens Co. Commission Set To Meet Today

Stephens County Commissioners will meet for a regularly scheduled meeting and work session this morning.

The county commission is set to meet at 8:30 a.m. today in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

First, commissioners will hold a public hearing for planning and zoning reasons.

Then, county commissioners will move into the work session to discuss items on the meeting agenda.

Among the items on the meeting agenda is reconsideration of a motion to approve or deny payment to Yancey Brothers Company for a transmission rebuild in the amount of more than $11,400.

Also, Stephens County Commissioners are expected to consider a motion to award a bid for the purchase of an ambulance using SPLOST VI funds, consider a motion to award an access control system for Stephens County 911, renew the current contract for landfill environmental monitoring, and authorize up to $5,000 out of contingencies to go towards funding an economic development trip to Germany for the Stephens County Development Authority Director.

Following the work session to discuss agenda items, commissioners will move into the business meeting where agenda items are voted on.

Today’s Stephens County Commission meeting is open to the public.
