Stephens Co. Commission to Meet Today

Stephens County Commissioners will hold a regularly scheduled meeting later today.

That meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

This is the county commission’s first meeting since January.

The commission cancelled its last scheduled meeting back on February 9.

Commissioners will start at 5:30 p.m. today with a public hearing regarding the proposed abandonment on that portion of Camp Mikell Road that is located on the property owned by Matthew Wynn.

The commission will then consider that item during the business meeting agenda.

Following the public hearing, Stephens County Commissioners will hold a work session to discuss items that are on the business meeting agenda.

Also on the business meeting agenda is consideration of a motion to impose a temporary moratorium for signage within the unincorporated portions of Highway 17 extending from the Franklin County lien to the intersection of the Toccoa Bypass and then continuing on the Toccoa Bypass until it reaches the Habersham County line in Stephens County.

Commissioners will move into the business meeting to vote on agenda items as needed immediately after the work session.

Today’s Stephens County Commission meeting also allows time for public comment.
