Stephens Co. Hospital Getting New Medical Director For Hospitalist Program

Stephens County Hospital has a new Medical Director for its Hospitalist program.

Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson updated the Hospital Authority on the change taking place at its meeting on Monday.

Anderson said that the change is already underway.

“Our medical director, Dr. Hancock, has taken a position down near where he lives in Decatur, Georgia,” said Anderson. “We contract with a company called Apogee to provide the hospitalist, so they hired a new medical director. His name is Dr. (Jeffrey) Lamp. He will join us full-time in mid-December. He will work some part-time in between. We are really excited to get him. I think he will be a great addition to our staff.”

The Apogee Group based out of Scottsdale, Arizona handles the hospitalist service at Stephens County Hospital.

A hospitalist is a physician who treats hospital in-patients only, in place often times of that patient’s personal physician while the patient is in the hospital.

According to the Stephens County Hospital website, the hospitalist program provides 24 hour a day, seven day a week access to two physicians and two nurse practitioners.
