Stephens Co. Hospital Honors Auxiliary At Love Light

Stephens County Hospital honors its Auxiliary volunteers at an annual event to start the holiday season.

Thursday night was the annual Love Light program at Stephens County Hospital and the lighting of the Love Light tree.

Again this year, the program was held in the hospital cafeteria.

Each year, the Love Light program honors an individual or group of individuals.

This year, the hospital chose to honor the members of the Stephens County Hospital Auxiliary and light the Love Light tree at the hospital in their honor.

Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said the Auxiliary inspires her each and every day.

“They are tireless in what they do,” said Anderson. “They accomplish so many things and they work so many hours and when I go out and make rounds in the hospital and I see them, they always have a smile on their face. They are so helpful, not only to patients and our visitors, but our employees. They do inspire me and I hope I give back to the hospital the way they do.”

The Stephens County Hospital Auxiliary has been in place since 1962 to help supplement the services of paid personnel and help promote a better understanding between the community and hospital.

In those 54 years, the Auxiliary has worked more than 394,000 hours, volunteering for the hospital.

Also, the Auxiliary raises money for the hospital each year through the Love Light program and this year was no different.

Money raised through the Love Light campaign goes to buy needed equipment for the hospital.

This year, a record $41,908.66 was raised during Love Light that purchased items ranging from tables and chairs to vein finders.

Anderson said the hospital is appreciative of the Auxiliary’s efforts to purchase this equipment.

“The things that they are able to buy for us are things we otherwise would not be able to get,” said Anderson. “They are things that make people’s jobs easier.”

This year marked the 35th anniversary of Love Light at Stephens County Hospital.

In those 35 years, the Auxiliary has purchased more than $605,000 in equipment for Stephens County Hospital.

Anderson said the hospital appreciates everyone who supports the Love Light campaign each year.
