Stephens Co. Man Arrested in Reported Burglary

A Stephens County man faces charges in connection with an alleged burglary at Camp Mikell.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it arrested 35-year-old Dustin Addam Mederios and charged him with one count of Burglary in the First Degree and one count of misdemeanor Theft By Taking.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said it stems from deputies responding on October 8 to Camp Mikell in reference to a burglary that had already occurred.

“The suspect had entered one of the cottages and had removed all of the furniture, as well as the air conditioning, from the cottage, which was discovered, not that day, but a few days later,” said Shirley. “He was familiar to the people at Camp Mikell.”

Shirley said that reporting deputies were told employees saw a male subject in or near the cabin that was burglarized earlier in the week and learned that the subject may live at a residence off Holly Creek Drive.

The sheriff went on to say that a deputy then went to a residence on Holly Creek Drive and located an item matching the description of an item in a theft report from a residence on White Oak Farm Road.

According to the sheriff, they later also found property from the burglary at Camp Mikell and Mederios was arrested.

At last report, Mederios was being held at the Stephens County Jail awaiting a first appearance hearing before a judge.
