Stephens Co. Property Taxes Are Due

The deadline to pay Stephens County property taxes is coming up.

For those who have not paid yet, Stephens County Tax Commissioner Dene Hicks said that the deadline to pay county property taxes is this Sunday, November 15.

“Just in-house payments on Monday will be without interest,” said Hicks.

She explained that payments by mail must be postmarked on Sunday or before.

People can also pay online at www.stephenscountytax.com.

Hicks went on to say that those who pay late will have to pay interest in addition to any tax that is owed.

“Interest is one percent per month or a portion of (a month),” said Hicks.

This year, Stephens County levied a total of $18,089,238.80 in property taxes.

Hicks said that as of Tuesday afternoon, current year property tax collections were at about 60 percent, which she says is around normal for this time.
