Stephens Co. Seeking New E-911/EMA Director

Stephens County is looking to fill the post of E-911 and Emergency Management Agency Director.

Current E-911/EMA Director Denny Folsom has turned in his resignation, according to Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers.

She said that the resignation letter did not state a reason.

Ayers said that Folsom’s last day will be next Friday, April 8.

According to Ayers, the process for filling the position is already underway.

“The job has been posted and will run for two weeks,” said Ayers. “It will be in the Toccoa paper and a couple of websites that we use for posting and our county website and then we will begin the interview process.”

Ayers went on to say that there will not be an interim department head while this vacancy exists.

“There are some strong supervisors on both of the shifts that have gone through this turnover before and I will stay connected with them, but they are fully capable of running the day to day operations,” said Ayers.

She did say that she does want the position filled quickly.

“As quickly as possible, so I would definitely be shooting for about a month,” said Ayers.

Ayers said that the county will be seeking one person to handle both the EMA and E-911 responsibilities.

Folsom has served as the county’s E-911 and EMA Director since August 2013.

He came to Stephens County from south Georgia, having previously been the Cook County E-911 and EMA Director.
