TFC Nursing Program Gets Initial State Board Approval

The new nursing program at Toccoa Falls College checks off another important box in its push to be ready for next year.

Last month, the Georgia Board of Nursing granted initial approval to the Fetterman School of Nursing’s BSN program at Toccoa Falls College.

TFC President Dr. Robert Myers said that the school is thrilled that the Georgia State Board of Nursing has recognized the excellence of the school’s nursing curriculum.

Those thoughts are echoed by Toccoa Falls College Dean of Nursing Deborah Alvater.

She said they were confident in their program and are pleased that the Georgia Board of Nursing has shown confidence in the school through the initial approval.

According to Alvater, God continues to pave the way for this program to become a reality as this approval puts the college one step closer to having a program to equip nurses who will shape the profession of nursing and have a profound impact in transforming healthcare and transforming lives.

Groundbreaking for the new Fetterman School of Nursing was held on May 5 on the grounds of Toccoa Falls College.

Construction is currently underway and the first class of students is expected to enroll in the Fall of 2017.

School officials said the new nursing facility will provide students with exceptional opportunities to engage in innovative learning, housing state-of-the-art skill laboratories, simulated patient suites, classrooms, and administrative offices.

Dr. Myers said the school is excited for the nursing program, adding that it was first considered at TFC over 50 years ago and the dream is about to become a reality.
