TFC Volleyball Team Makes National Tournament

The Toccoa Falls College volleyball program is heading to the NCCAA National Tournament for the first time since the 1999 season.

The Screaming Eagles have earned the #8, at-large seed after placing second in the south region tournament.

Toccoa Falls finished the regular season with a record of 20-12 by winning 13 of its last 15 matches.

Then in the south region tournament, the Screaming Eagles advanced to the championship round after defeating Trinity College of Florida 3-1 and 3-2.

In the championship match, the Screaming Eagles ran out of gas and were topped by Pensacola Christian College in three sets.

That was good enough, however, to move into the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida starting on November 12.

TFC has been grouped in Pool A with #1 Maranatha Baptist University, #4 Kentucky Christian University, #5 Ozark Christian College, and #9 Dallas Christian College.

In Pool B, the participants are #2 Providence University College, #3 Manhattan Christian College, #6 Pensacola Christian College, #7 Arlington Baptist College, and #10 North Central University.

The top two teams from Pool A and Pool B will advance to the national semifinals.

TFC will open pool play on November 12 against #4 Kentucky Christian University at 10 a.m.

The Screaming Eagles will also play #9 Dallas Christian College on November 12 at 4 p.m.

On November 13, TFC will play the tournament’s top seed #1 Maranatha Baptist University at 10 a.m., then will conclude pool play at 4 p.m. against #5 Ozark Christian College.

Coach Selina Slate said it is a blessing to receive the at-large bid to the national tournament, adding that the team worked so hard all year and definitely deserves to be there.
