The Franklin County Grand Jury has indicted three Martin men in connection with a fight between a group of adults and a group of juveniles.

23-year old Brandon McCall, 23-year old Jared Coker, and 50-year old Darrin McFarlin were indicted on one count each of aggravated battery, and two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree.

The fight happened on February 4th off Pleasant Hill Circle in Martin and the GBI was called in to investigate at the request of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, according to Athens office Agent in Charge Jesse Maddox.

“One group of individuals was made up primarily of juveniles and the other group was primarily made up of adults,” said GBI Athens office Agent in Charge Jesse Maddox. “Our investigation led us to determine who were the aggressors in that incident.”

Maddox said several of the juveniles suffered injuries and had to be hospitalized.

“I can say that as far as the injuries, no one remained in the hospital for an extended period of time. However, the injuries ranged from superficial to serious,” he said.

According to the indictment, those injuries included a concussion, black eye and lacerations.

After a months long investigation, Maddox said warrants were issued and McCall, McFarlin and Coker voluntarily turned themselves in to authorities in mid-March.

Maddox has not said what prompted the fight between the adults and the juveniles and the investigation is ongoing.
