Toccoa 10-11 Baseball All-Stars Win State Tourney Opener

The Toccoa 10 and 11 year old baseball All-Stars will look to go to 2-0 in pool play Sunday in their state tournament in Cartersville.

Toccoa came from behind on Saturday, scoring five runs in the fifth inning to defeat Cartersville 6-4.

Cartersville jumped on top 3-0 in the top of the first inning and led 4-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

However, Toccoa batted around in the bottom of the fifth, plating five runs on five hits and a walk to take the lead.

Toccoa then retired Cartersville in the top of the sixth to seal the win.

Hunter Puntervold led Toccoa, going 3 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Dawson Roberts added a two-run double, while Dawson Gastley, and Zach Feaster each knocked in runs as well.

Toccoa is now 1-0 in pool play, while Cartersville drops to 0-1.

Next up for Toccoa is Smyrna Sunday at 12:30 p.m. from Cartersville.

We will broadcast that game on AM 630 WNEG and immediately after a special 12 noon broadcast of “Christ Over All” with Dr. Joe Renfro.
