Toccoa Again Pursues Trail Grant for Lake Toccoa

The city of Toccoa will again pursue grant funding to build a walking trail at Lake Toccoa.

Monday, the Toccoa City Commission approved a resolution for a Georgia Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program Grant.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said the city is seeking up to $100,000 to help build a walking trail around the Lake Toccoa property.

“The project will cost a total of approximately $235,000,” said Morse. “The city of Toccoa shall provide approximately $66,000 in cash match in addition to in kind services for the project. Toccoa wishes to create a trail on a green space around Lake Toccoa to offer new outdoor recreational activities for our citizens and to improve tourism in the area.”

Morse said the city applied for this grant this past year, but did not receive it, so the city has chosen to re-apply this year.
