Toccoa Announces Plans for Georgia Cities Week

The city of Toccoa will host a special week of activities to celebrate Georgia Cities Week later this month.

This year’s theme for Georgia Cities Week is “Go To Town.”

Georgia Cities Week, sponsored each year by the Georgia Municipal Association, is designed as an opportunity to showcase and celebrate cities and the services they provide.

Special events in Toccoa for Georgia Cities Week will begin on Monday, April 18 with a health walk on the new sidewalk on Big A Road.

The walk will begin at 4 p.m. and start at the old Fred’s parking lot and continue to Jerry White’s Pharmacy, with walkers then being able to walk back to their cars.

Then on Tuesday, April 19 from 3 to 5 p.m., there will be a “Touch a Truck” event in the First Citizens Bank parking lot across from the Schaefer Center at the corner of Broad and Doyle streets in downtown Toccoa.

Police cars, fire trucks, and other city vehicles will be available for children to look at “up close” and there will also be giveaways for the children.

On Friday, April 22, the city will have Customer Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to noon in the lobby of City Hall.

The whole community is invited to attend that.

Finally, for those interested in word searches, there is a “Searching for Toccoa” word search online at www.cityoftoccoa.com and www.mainstreettoccoa.com.

The city said those who complete it correctly may take it to City Hall on April 22 for a prize.
