Toccoa City Commission Meets Today

Toccoa City Commissioners will get their calendar year underway later today with a host of meetings.

First, the city commission is meeting for a planning meeting with department heads out at the Links Pro Shop starting at 11:30 a.m.

During that planning meeting, department heads and city commissioners are set to discuss priority projects for the year ahead and also talk about possible goals for each department for the year ahead.

The city commission is also set to receive a presentation from the city’s auditing firm, Mauldin and Jenkins, during today’s planning meeting.

Then at 5 p.m. Toccoa City Commissioners will gather for their regularly scheduled meeting at Toccoa City Hall.

Since this is the first meeting of 2016, the commission will ratify its choices of Mayor and Vice-Mayor that were made last month.

Also, the commission will make a number of yearly appointments that are traditionally done in January.

The commission will also receive a Fiscal Year 2015 annual financial report and a monthly financial report for Fiscal Year 2016.

Finally, Toccoa City Commissioners will consider a vibrant communities grant contract. That is the grant the city received to help put on a “Flames Fest” concert at the Schaefer Center later this year.

Today’s Toccoa City Commission meeting also allows time for public comment.
