Toccoa Commission Expected to Take FY 16 Budget Vote Today

Toccoa City Commissioners are expected to vote on approving a Fiscal Year 2016 operating budget for the city of Toccoa at their meeting later today.

The city commission meets at 5 p.m. at Toccoa City Hall.

City commissioners will hold the second and final reading of the proposed Fiscal Year 2016 operating budget at today’s meeting.

Commissioners held the first reading at their meeting back on April 27.

The proposed Fiscal Year 2016 operating budget totals just under $36.2 million.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said that would be an increase of about 8.55 percent from the current Fiscal Year 2015 operating budget.

However, Morse said the increase is due to increases in Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, funds and funds put aside for the Davidson Creek Dredging Project.

Morse said that operating fund budgets, which include the general fund and the utility funds, are actually proposed to go down by about two percent.

Also, the proposed Fiscal Year 2016 budget for the city of Toccoa calls for no change in the millage rate and no changes to utility rates.

Other items on today’s city commission meeting agenda include bid openings for golf course equipment and bare steel replacement, the consideration of an appointment to the Airport Authority, and the monthly financial report.

Today’s Toccoa City Commission meeting is open to the public.
