Toccoa Commission Ratifies ABC Board Decision

The Toccoa City Commission ratifies action taken against a local restaurant by the city’s Alcohol Beverage Control board.

Last month, the Toccoa Police Department responded to Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant on Big A Road for what Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse called an alcohol-related incident.

On February 15, the Toccoa Alcohol Beverage Control board held an emergency meeting to take action in light of the incident that took place.

Morse said that the ABC board voted unanimously to recommend to suspend all alcoholic beverage licenses for Los Amigos for a period not less than 10 days and not more than 30 days and also to fine Los Amigos not less than $500.

He went on to say that the restaurant was present at the meeting and the police department concurred with the recommendation.

“Los Amigos did not contest the charges and agreed to immediately comply with the recommendation of the ABC board,” said Morse. “Los Amigos has already paid the fine of $500 and their alcoholic beverage licenses were suspended February 19 for a period of 10 days. Los Amigos has further voluntarily taken steps to prevent the individuals involved in the incident from coming on the premises.”

Following Morse’s report, Toccoa City Commissioners voted unanimously to ratify the 10-day license suspension from February 19 to March 1 that has already been served and the $500 fine levied against Los Amigos that has already been paid.
