Toccoa First United Methodist to Host Community Holy Week Services

Toccoa First United Methodist Church on East Tugalo Street in Toccoa will be hosting the Community Holy Week Services beginning Monday, April 10 through Friday, April 14.

The services will start at noon each day. Toccoa First United Methodist Church Pastor Dr. John Brown told us why these services are important.

“It’s important because it draws attention to what Holy Week is all about,” said Brown. “Often we think of Easter as one big happy celebration, but need to be reminded that there was suffering and a crucifixion also.”
Scheduled speakers for the Holy Week Services include:
Rev. David Ritcey of First Baptist Church of Toccoa on Monday; Dr. Henry Fields and Pastor Emeritus First Baptist Church on Tuesday; Rev. Jim Bocian of Royston First United Methodist Church on Wednesday; The Very Rev. Mary Demmler of St. Matthias Episcopal Church on Thursday and Dr. Brown on Friday.

Dr. Brown is excited with those scheduled to speak.

“We are delighted to have most of the pastors on Tugalo Street and not only do we get a chance to spend time with our friends and neighbors, but get a variety of view points on what Holy Week means,” he said.

Dr. Brown invites everyone to attend and said the services are designed to fit in to your work schedule.

“We hope to see everyone at noon and we’ll have lunch after the service. It is all designed to be within an hour’s time to get you back to work on time if that is a concern,” said Brown.
