Toccoa Jr. League Softball Wins Second Pool Play Game

The Toccoa Junior League Softball All-Stars will look to try to earn a berth later today in the semi-finals of the Southeast Regional Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida.

Toccoa split its first two games of pool play over the weekend.

On Saturday, Toccoa lost to Fort Myers 3-1 in its opening game. Gracie Jordan scored the lone Toccoa run, while Avian Craft, Bella Fernandez and Hannah Hieb each had hits for Toccoa.

Toccoa bounced back on Sunday, however.

The schedule changed and had Toccoa facing a team from Cape Coral, Florida and Toccoa came out on top 3-1.

Alanna Dunson hit a two-run home run for Toccoa and Ivey Andrews pitched a complete game on the mound, allowing just one run and four hits, while striking out four.

Toccoa is now 1-1 in pool play and is tied for second place in the pool with Cape Coral.

Today, Toccoa will wrap up pool play against North Carolina, who is 0-2 so far in the tournament.

Toccoa’s game today will start at 6:45 p.m.

If Toccoa advances out of pool play, they would play Tuesday in the semi-finals.

The tournament’s championship game is set for Wednesday.

Whoever wins this tournament would advance to the Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington on August 10.
