Toccoa Police Dept. Arrests Four individuals for Entering Unlocked Vehicles

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell reports the arrest of four individuals for entering unlocked vehicles on multiple roads in Toccoa.

All of the vehicles that were entered were unlocked and items taken include handguns, money, purses and wallets.

According to Jarrell, the four individuals arrested for these crimes are believed to be responsible for other thefts around the city, but as those investigations continue, the four are charged with 20 counts of Entering an Automobile and other related charges including felony theft by receiving.

Due to these thefts, Jarrell advised everyone to lock their vehicles.

“Every one of these vehicles were left unlocked,” said Jarrell. “We can’t stress enough to the citizens in asking for them to reduce the probability of becoming a victim of this type of crime by locking their vehicles. From these instances, it could lead to something more, like an identity theft issue later.”

Jarrell said if you see a theft in progress, call 911 to report the crime.
