Toccoa-Stephens Co. Humane Shelter Offering Spay/Neuter Special

The Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter is offering a special $20 spay/neuter opportunity for cats and dogs in Stephens County.

The funds to cover most of the cost are from a grant the shelter has received to help reduce the unwanted pet population in the county.

Toccoa-Stephens county Humane Shelter Director Jeff Roberts said the cost cannot be beat

“We have some grant funds that allow us to get Stephens County animals spayed and neutered. It’s a super bargain,” said Roberts.

Roberts said the special will continue until the money runs out.

“We have already done over 150 animals and we have total funding for 600, said Roberts. “We encourage to get it done as early as you can before your animal becomes pregnant.”

Dogs and cats can start having litters as early as four months of age, and Roberts said the shelter is trying to prevent the “oops litter.”
