Update on Wednesday Wreck

Authorities have released more information on a wreck Wednesday in Stephens County.

It happened on Wednesday at about 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of the Toccoa By-pass, or Georgia Highway 17, and Cawthon Road.

The accident involved two vehicles.

According to the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol, a 1999 GMC C6500 was traveling southbound on Highway 17 in the left lane approaching its intersection with Cawthon Road.

Meanwhile, the GSP says a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling eastbound on Cawthon Road after stopping at the stop sign at the intersection.

Troopers say the driver of the Equinox, 27-year-old Brittany D. Foster from Canon, failed to yield to the GMC and pulled out into its lane of travel.

The GSP says that the driver of the GMC, 46-year-old Randy D. Miller of Clarkesville, applied the brakes but was unable to avoid impact, striking the Equinox in its drivers side.

According to the GSP, Foster was injured and airlifted to Athens Regional. Two passengers in the Equinox, Lucas Fowler and Brice Fowler of Canon, were injured and transported to Stephens County Hospital.

Miller was not injured.

The GSP says Foster was charged with Failure to Yield when Entering or Crossing Roadway.
