Voter Registration Deadline Today; Town Hall for Solicitor Tonight

Today is the deadline for Georgia residents not registered to vote to do so in order to be able to vote in the November election.

One way people can register to vote is by going to the Stephens County Registrar’s Office, which is located in the Stephens County Courthouse Annex on Tugalo Street in downtown Toccoa.

All voter registration applications must be submitted or postmarked today to be processed for this November’s election.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp says that citizens can also submit an electronic voter registration application using their Georgia driver’s license number or state-issued identification card number on several platforms: Online Voter Registration, the free “GA SOS” mobile app for Apple and Android devices, and the “2VOTE” text messaging pilot project.

Also, Kemp says voters should verify their voting information in Georgia’s Voter Registration System and, if necessary, update their record.

People can do that by going to the “My Voter Page” at the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office website at www.sos.ga.gov.

Meanwhile, the candidates for State Court Solicitor in Stephens County will both appear at a town hall meeting tonight.

The Governmental Affairs Committee of the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce will hold a town hall meeting for State Court Solicitor candidates Willie Woodruff and Ann Pickett tonight at 6 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

Doors will open for the town hall at 5:30 p.m.

The new 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG, along with wnegradio.com, will air the town hall starting at 6 p.m.
