Wilbros Withdraws EPD Appeal

Wilbros is ending its quest to have its Environmental Protection Division permits re-instated.

The Rose Lane company filed a notice of dismissal in Fulton County Superior Court today.

In that notice, Wilbros says it is withdrawing its request for Fulton County Superior Court to review the EPD’s administrative order revoking Wilbros’ waste water and solid waste permits and the prior decision of an administrative law judge upholding that order.

According to Stephens County Attorney Brian Ranck, this ends Wilbros’ efforts to get back its EPD permits, meaning that composting at the Wilbros facility in Toccoa is done.

Ranck also says it is his understanding that Wilbros should be well into the EPD closure plan and removing compost from the facility.
