Wilkinson Named to Senate Caucus Leadership Post

A local state legislator will take over a leadership position in Atlanta.

50th District State Senator John Wilkinson was elected to serve as Secretary of the Senate Republican Caucus for the upcoming biennial legislative term of the Georgia General Assembly.

In this role, Senator Wilkinson will be responsible for recording all official legislative activities for the Senate Majority Caucus.

Wilkinson said he is grateful to have the opportunity to serve the Senate Republican Caucus as secretary for another biennial term.

He said he is looking forward to continuing to work with the leadership team and the Senate to promote positive legislation designed to safeguard Georgia’s reputation as a great state to live, work and play.

Currently, Wilkinson is also the Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

The Toccoa Republican also serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Education and Youth Committee, and a member of the Appropriations, Assignments, and Natural Resources committees.

The first term of the 154th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly will convene on January 9, 2017, at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta.
