Wilkinson Recognizes Veterinarians in Ga.

50th District State Senator John Wilkinson recognizes the work of Georgia’s veterinarians.

On Wednesday, Wilkinson recognized the work of Georgia’s veterinarians and their dedication to the health and welfare of all animals with Senate Resolution 79, which recognized February 8, 2017, as Veterinary Medicine Day at the Capitol.

SR 79 commends Georgia’s veterinarians on their scientific knowledge and skills that are used to protect animal health, relieve animal suffering, conserve Georgia’s livestock resources, promote public health and advance medical knowledge.

Senator Wilkinson was joined by Georgia Veterinary Medical Association President Dr. Sarah Wheat; Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine President Dr. Henry Bohn; University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine’s Interim Dean Dr. Richard Keith Harris; Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Advocacy Committee Chairman Dr. Vince Obsitnik; and Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Executive Director Susan Blevins for the announcement.

Wilkinson said he is so proud to have the opportunity to honor the state’s veterinarians.

He added that they provide an invaluable service to Georgia’s families by keeping our four-legged loved ones happy and healthy and said the state is very fortunate the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia has the support it does and is able to produce such wonderful veterinarians.
