Wilkinson Chairs Ag. Summit

50th District Senator John Wilkinson and Representative Tom McCall of Elberton recently chaired the annual Joint Agriculture Committee Chairmen Ag Issues Summit at the Museum of Agriculture in Tifton, Georgia.

The summit featured speakers and presentations from stakeholders across the state who discussed the future of agriculture policy and issues in Georgia.

Wilkinson told WNEG News that quote “Hearing from the interested stakeholders gave him the chance to see first-hand what we might be discussing in the Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee this coming session.”

Wilkinson also said that Agriculture issues vary across our communities and it’s important to see and hear what’s happening in different parts of the state so we can create policy initiatives to help maintain Georgia’s place in the U.S. ag. industry.

The summit was sponsored by the Georgia Agribusiness Council and other industry leaders and featured discussion on topics ranging from the water wars, to rural Georgia and agriculture education.
