Alleged Convenience Store Robber Captured by Store Manager, Customer

A Toccoa man is facing a host of charges including robbery after he tried to rob a convenience store.

It happened Sunday at the Mountain Mart on the corner of Big A Road and Currahee St.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, officers were dispatched to the store where they saw two men struggling in the parking lot.

One of the men was the store clerk, identified as Sanamprit Singh who had stopped the suspect, identified as 22-year old Kyle Fowler of Toccoa.

Mize said after failed attempts by Fowler to get into the cash register, Fowler allegedly stole the change money from under the register.

Then, as he pushed is way out the door, he was stopped by Singh, with the help of another store customer.

The pair was able to hold Fowler until police arrived.

Singh suffered some minor cuts and bruises as the result of the struggle, but Fowler was not injured.

Fowler was arrested and is charged with Robbery, Battery, 2 counts of Possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Marijuana less than an ounce.
