Ambulance Thief Arrested, Charged in Toccoa

A Toccoa man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing an ambulance Friday morning.

It took place around the 8 a.m. hour Friday when reports indicate a man stole a private service transport ambulance from Stephens County Hospital while he was waiting to be transported.

The man fled in the ambulance, but was caught and taken into custody near the Toccoa Police Department.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell identified the man arrested as 51-year-old Kenneth Leon Kell of Toccoa.

Kell is charged with Theft by Taking, Simple Assault against hospital staff, and Driving with a Suspended License.

Jarrell said that the ambulance taken did not belong to Stephens County.
