Board of Education to Remodel Agriculture Building

The Stephens County Board of Education is moving forward with remodels at the agriculture center at the high school.

At their work session last week, board member Len Stovall asked about the possibility of these improvements and at that time, Superintendent Bryan Dorsey said he would look at the budget to see what they could do. Last night, Dorsey said he visited the building to see what needs to be done.

“Things that I noticed out there, we don’t have concrete where the livestock is held prior to entering so you have all that manure and dirt coming in,” said Dorsey. “We’ve got some garage door issue out there, some conditioning issues and some holes that need to be  fixed too. It is in a state of disrepair, it’s had some serious neglect.”

The board agreed to have agriculture teacher Bradley Dalton bring a committee together to decide what the most important improvements are. Dorsey said they would cap the cost around $95,000.

He added that the board could expect to be presented with the decision by Dalton at the August or September meeting.
