Carter, Fry, Austin All Running for Re-Election

All three Toccoa City Commissioners whose posts are up for election this year plan to run for re-election to the board.

Qualifying is next week for the Toccoa City Commission posts held by Terry Carter, Gail Fry, and David Austin.

On Monday, all three confirmed they planned to qualify for four more years.

Carter said he wants to continue moving the city ahead in the direction it has been going.

“I appreciate the opportunity to be able to serve again if the citizens see fit,” said Carter. “I would like to see some things we have been working so far on come to fruition. I would love an opportunity to do that. I think we have been able to achieve a lot of the goals we have set and made some good strides and would love to continue that momentum and would love to be part of that.”

Meanwhile, Fry also said she wants to continue helping the city move forward.

“I have enjoyed working with the commission, the community,” said Fry. “I feel like we are making a lot of progress in the city right now and I would like to continue forward with those projects.”

As for Austin, he said that he is pleased with the city’s progress and wants to be part of the future direction of Toccoa.

“Things have been progressing well with the city of Toccoa the last couple of years and I just want to continue that momentum,” said Austin.

Both Carter and Fry would be seeking their second terms on the Toccoa City Commission, having both been elected in 2011.

Meanwhile, Austin is seeking his fifth term on the city commission.

Qualifying for the seats begins Monday morning with Toccoa City Clerk Fredda Wheeler at City Hall.
