Citizens Advisory Panel on Litter & Blight Combines with Keep Toccoa Stephens Co. Beautiful

The citizens advisory panel on litter and blight is now officially combining with the Keep Toccoa Stephens County Beautiful Board.

The city commission approved the combination at their meeting Monday, contingent upon the county commission’s approval.

The county approved it at their meeting on Tuesday after hearing from Tim Hale.

“The request is made for a variety of reasons,” said Hale. “The good news is that the Citizens Advisory Panel on Litter and Blight has been very successful and we’ve essentially worked ourselves out of a job. The bad news is that Keep Toccoa Stephens County Beautiful has aged. We essentially need to pull both groups together to combine those groups now.”

The citizens advisory panel will now become the board of directors for Keep Toccoa Stephens County Beautiful.

Hale said that with new leadership, the board will grow for the future.

“We lose no power there and we essentially breathe some life back into Keep Toccoa Stephens County Beautiful,” said Hale. “And allow it, hopefully through the work of the new board of directors, to build toward the future and get some young people in that group.”

The overall goal for the Keep Toccoa Stephens County Beautiful Board is to raise awareness of blighted areas throughout the county.
