City to reconsider Sign Ordinance

During the recent Toccoa City Commissions’ Special Called Meeting, Commissioner Terry Carter addressed the commissioners with a recommendation to re-examine the current Sign Ordinance.

“I think that we should look over the sign ordinance again. Since our work session several of our commissioners have expressed concerns about the ordinance. I think it would be best if we void any citations that have been issued for violation of the sign ordinance until we can look over the ordinance and make any changes,” Carter said.

Carter continued to say that there are bigger ordinance violations that the city should consider addressing first.

The commissioners voted and approved to reassess the sign ordinance and pass a 60-day moratorium that would void all citations issued regarding violations of the sign ordinance.

Previously, the commission had discussed the sign ordinance during its work session on Feb. 12; however, no action was taken at that time.
