Collins Speaks Out Against Net Neutrality

9th District U.S. Representative Doug Collins is speaking out against a ruling by a federal appeals court regarding net neutrality.

Tuesday, the D.C. Circuit Court upheld the Federal Communications Commission’s “net neutrality” rules, which would require Internet providers to treat all web traffic equally and would keep online content from being blocked or channeled into fast and slow lanes.

Collins introduced a resolution last year in the House of Representatives to overturn the FCC’s net neutrality rule.

He calls the FCC’s rule overreaching and unnecessary and says the FCC’s plan would slow Internet speeds, increase consumer prices, and hamper infrastructure development, including in northeast Georgia.

The congressman says American cannot regulate its way to new innovation and restrict the development of technology in the marketplace.

According to Collins, the ruling is a blow to Internet freedom and Congressional authority.

Saying that federal agencies should not be allowed to rewrite the law to suit political whims, Collins says he will continue working to rein in the FCC, stimulate competition, and fight for American consumers.
