Corps Announces Park Closing Schedule

The annual Fall park closing schedule is out for Hartwell Lake.

Officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released that schedule last week.

According to the Corps, Coneross, Georgia River, Oconee Point, and Paynes Creek Campgrounds will close for the season on October 1.

Crescent and Springfield Campgrounds will close on November 1.

Finally, Twin Lakes and Watsadler Campgrounds will undergo partial closure starting on December 1.

However, the Corps said selected sites and loops at Twin Lakes and Watsadler will remain open year-round.

Meanwhile, Corps officials said the following day use areas will close for the season this Friday, September 9: Elrod Ferry, Friendship, Poplar Springs, Twin Lakes, River Forks, and Weldon Island.

Then, the Corps said the Singing Pines and Twelve Mile day use areas will close on October 1.

According to the Corps, ramp and fishing pier facilities at the above listed locations, and all other Corps-operated access areas not mentioned, will remain open throughout the year.
