Currahee Military Museum Part of Museum Day Live!

A Toccoa museum is participating in Museum Day Live!

The Currahee Military Museum, located at the train depot in Toccoa, will be hosting the free event-Museum Day Live!-this Saturday as part of an initiative with participating museums across the nation to replicate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution.

Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live! is an initiative in which participating museums across the United States emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington DC-based facilities, which offer free admission every day, and open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket.

After the Currahee Museum was selected and approved for the Smithsonian event, the local Historical Society wanted to offer the community an opportunity to tour the museum for free during this rare occasion.

The only requirement for admission this Saturday is to download and print a ticket. To download a ticket visit Smithsonian.com/museumday.

Toccoa and Stephens County has a very unique museum, a true one of a kind. Museum Director Brenda Carlan tells WNEG News quote “It is an honor for the museum to have been selected and approved for this Smithsonian Event. So we certainly hope the community will take advantage of the offer.”
