DOT Approves SR17 Resurfacing in Franklin, Hart Counties

Part of State Route 17 in Franklin and Hart counties will get a new surface after the work was approved by the Georgia Department of Transportation recently.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded 31 contracts for statewide construction projects totaling over $146.6 million.

These projects were advertised for bids in March and awarded on April 1.

Among the projects is 2.478 miles of miles of milling, plant mix resurfacing, and shoulder rehabilitation along State Route 17 beginning in Hart County and extending into Franklin County.

This project was one of 22 resurfacing projects across Georgia approved by the DOT as part of the package that total more than $58 million.

There was no start date given for the work.

DOT officials said that information on schedules, lane closures, and detours, if necessary, will be made available in advance of any construction activities.
