Downtown Development Authority Approves Currahee Beautification Grant

The Downtown Development Authority approves a Currahee Beautification Grant for Mr. Brett Adams at their meeting Friday.

Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton said this grant is meant to help improve the façade of businesses on Currahee Street.

“Since Currahee Street serves as a gateway to downtown Toccoa, the Downtown Development Authority has made a Currahee Beautification Grant available to those businesses who want to improve on their facade,” said Hamilton. “The purpose is to fix the facade, make it look better and to increase the overall beautification of downtown Toccoa and Currahee Street.”

According to Hamilton, Adams purchased property at 590 East Currahee Street and plans to turn the top floor into two apartments and the bottom floor into a show room for his business, Timber Ridge Construction.

The approved grant allows the DDA to pay up to 50 percent of Adams’ costs or $5,000 dollars, whichever is less. Hamilton said the DDA anticipates Adams will receive the $5,000 dollars.
