Early Voting Open Saturday in Stephens Co.

Early voting is continuing in Georgia for the March 1 Presidential Preference Primary and for those who cannot get to the polls during the week, an opportunity to vote early is coming up this weekend.

Stephens County Registrar Bill Cochran said early voting will be open on Saturday in Stephens County from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“That would be a real convenient time for people to come,” he said.

Early voting on Saturday will be at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office, which is located in the Stephens County Courthouse Annex on Tugalo Street in downtown Toccoa.

Cochran said he is hoping for a busy Saturday to keep up the pace with what so far has been a busy voting period.

“We have had such a heavy turnout, we would like to continue the pace,” said Cochran. “We have received 624 early voters that have come in and 78 absentee ballots.”

Those numbers are as of Thursday afternoon.

Voters will need a picture ID in order to vote and will have to pick a party ballot when voting, either Republican or Democratic.

Again, early voting is on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office, which is located in the Stephens County Courthouse Annex on Tugalo Street in downtown Toccoa.

Early voting will continue all of next week as well from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Registrar’s Office.

Next Friday is the last day to vote early.

Also, next Friday is the last day to request a paper, mail-in absentee ballot by stopping by the Registrar’s Office.

Those ballots must be turned back in by the end of the day on Election Day, March 1.
