Election Day Today for Voters in Toccoa, Martin

Registered voters in Toccoa and Martin are headed to the polls today in municipal elections.

Voting runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for both elections.

Those voting in the Toccoa municipal election will vote at Toccoa City Hall on Alexander Street in downtown Toccoa, while those voting in Martin will vote at the Martin Community Center on Highway 17 in downtown Martin.

Voters will need a picture ID.

There is no voting at the Government Building today.

Also, only registered voters who live within the city limits of Toccoa are eligible to vote in the Toccoa election and only registered voters who live in the Martin city limits can vote in the Martin municipal election.

Voters in Toccoa are casting ballots in a referendum on whether to allow Sunday sales of alcohol by the drink for on-site consumption.

Meanwhile, Martin voters are selecting two council members.

It is a three-person race as incumbents Harold Alexander and Mark Gearhart are running, as is challenger Diane Yow Cole.

Another reminder … today at 7 p.m. is the deadline to return mail-in, paper absentee ballots to the Stephens County Registrar and Probate Court’s Office.
