FCA to host GA-SC All-Star Baseball game tonight

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be hosting a Georgia vs South Carolina All-Star baseball game tonight (Thursday) in Hartwell.

Senior all-star baseball players representing 15 different high schools will compete beginning at 7 o’clock tonight at Hart County High School.

Players were nominated by their head coach.  Admission will be $5, and all proceeds will go to the local ministry of FCA.

Hart County Coach Josh Osborne will lead Team Georgia, and West-Oak Coach Nick Groomes will lead Team South Carolina.

Chad Posey, director of Lake Hartwell Area FCA, says the idea of a Georgia-South Carolina All-Star game came from a similar event in Gainesville, Ga.

Posey says it should be a fun evening of quality high school baseball from the area all-stars.

“It should be an evening of fun, food and fellowship,” Posey said. “A lot of these guys will be moving on, and for some it may possibly be the last time putting a jersey on and getting to play, so we’re all looking forward to it.”

Before the game, teams will compete in a Home Run Derby beginning at 5:20 p.m.

93.1 FM & AM-630 WNEG will broadcast the game tonight with airtime at 6:45.

The game can also be heard at wnegradio.com and on smart phones using the TuneIn Radio app.
