Now that new Franklin County School Superintendent Wayne Randall is on the job officially, the school board has hired a new Assistant School Superintendent to take over his old job.

Randall said the Franklin County Board of Education has approved the hiring of Matt Adams.

“We are proud to announce that Matt Adams will be our new Assistant Superintendent,” Randall said. “And he will have the Facilities piece, as well as the College and Career Academy and CTAE programs. He is coming to us from Pike County and we are excited to have him with us.”

Randall went on to say that Adams has a long career in education and he expects Adams to bring that experience to his new position in Franklin County.

“He has been in leadership in all levels of education, elementary, middle and high school. He is currently the college and career administrator at the school he is at now,” Randall said.

According to his resume, Adams took over the helm as Principal and CEO of Lamar County High School and College and Career Academy in July 2014.

A 1992 graduate of Emmanuel College where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion, Adams received his middle grades certification through Mercer University and Columbus College in 1995.

He later received his Master’s in Educational Leadership at Columbus State University in 1998. Mr. Adams then obtained his Ed. S. degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University in 2003.

Adams was expected to begin as Assistant School Superintendent last week.
