Good Samaritan Beaten and Robbed in Hart County

A Hart County man feels lucky to be alive after being assaulted and robbed by two men after he stopped to render aid.

Authorities say it happened February 12th on Friendship Road in Hart County when the victim, whose name has not been released, stopped to help a man on the side of the road.

The victim reportedly told deputies that as he neared Hometown Road, a black male was waving at him trying to get him to stop.

When he pulled over, the man asked the victim for a cigarette.

That’s when the victim told deputies, another man entered the passenger side of his vehicle, struck him in the head and then both suspects dragged him out of the car.

The victim said the two men put a plastic bag over his head and began to pistol whip him. He then heard one suspect tell the other to shoot him.

The victim told the men he had $100 in his wallet and to take it if they would let him go.  The suspects took the money, but left the vehicle.

When he didn’t come home, the victim’s mother went looking for him and found him injured and lying on the side of Friendship Road. She took him to St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The victim was able to give deputies a description of one of the men.  So far, no arrests have been made and Hart County authorities continue to investigate.
