Home Search in Gumlog Ends In Arrest

A Gumlog man will be spending the New Year behind bars after authorities in Franklin County discovered a large cache of drugs in his home.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said the arrest came December 17th after a search warrant was issued for the home of John Archie Morman.

“Deputies, long with agents from the Georgia Probation officers visited and searched the home of Morman,” said Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas. “After searching the home, deputies arrested the 60-year old man on the following charges: trafficking of heroin, possession with intent, possession of cocaine, possession of schedule 1 controlled substances, possession of meth, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a stolen gun.”

Morman, who has a lengthy criminal record, had a first court appearance and was denied bond.

He remains in the Franklin County Detention Center.
