Hospital Renews Employee Health Benefits With Same Cost, Coverage

There is good news for employees at Stephens County Hospital.

On Monday, the Hospital Authority voted unanimously to renew employee health benefits for the upcoming year.

As part of that renewal, Stephens County Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said there will be no change in coverage or costs for hospital employees.

“No increase to the employees for their coverage,” said Anderson. “The way we are able to do that is that the hospital will take a little more financial risk to cover any premium increase that is there, so the employees will not have any increase and they will have the same coverage as last year.”

Anderson said taking on that financial risk means the hospital will cover any increase that there is in the premium costs.

“We are self-insured up to a certain amount, so we increased the amount that we are responsible for, which is really the significant risk that the hospital takes, but we felt like it was a good cost benefit,” said Anderson.

Anderson said that the hospital authority is pleased to be able to keep the costs and the coverage the same for employees at Stephens County Hospital.
