Hospital Reports Negative Bottom Line in May

Stephens County Hospital reports a negative bottom line for the month of May.

During Monday’s Hospital Authority meeting, the authority gave its monthly financial report.

Hospital Administrator Ed Gambrell said a slow month at the hospital resulted in the loss for the month.

“Patient census has been lower than we would like it to be,” said Gambrell. “It has just been sort of a slow time of year.”

He said other hospitals are seeing a similar trend on patient census.

Gambrell did say that the negative bottom line was simply a matter of revenues and was not representative of an issue with expenditures, which he says were on track.
