Indian Baseball Sweeps Cedar Shoals

Stephens County picks up its fifth straight non-region baseball win.

Friday night, the Indians jumped out in the first inning and never looked back, defeating Cedar Shoals in Athens, 14-2, in five innings.

The Indians scored two runs in the first, three in the second, four in the third, and five runs in the fourth inning to account for their scoring.

Dawson Sorrells had four RBIs and a run scored to pace the Indian offense. Also, Austin Page scored three runs and knocked in a run, and Kole Rogers added two RBIs and two runs scored for Stephens County.

Zach Boyd pitched three scoreless innings to get the win, allowing just two hits while striking out four. Aaron Chappelear pitched the final two innings for Stephens County.

Jorge Pascual took the loss for Cedar Shoals, pitching three plus innings and allowing 11 runs.

The Jaguars’ only two runs came in the fourth inning after four straight hitters reached base.

With the win, Stephens County moves to 13-1 on the season, while Cedar Shoals remains winless at 0-11.

The Indians are off until Thursday when they visit Prince Avenue Christian. Air time on Thursday is 5:20 p.m. with first pitch set for 5:30 p.m. on WNEG and wnegradio.com.
