Indian Baseball Sweeps Knights

Stephens County is back to .500 in Region 8-AAAA baseball play.

Wednesday, the Indians used strong pitching and big innings to beat the Johnson Knights in Oakwood, 9-0.

Chaz Bridges and Dylan Simpson combined on a four-hit shutout for Stephens County.

Bridges went the first four innings to get the win, allowing just two hits and striking out seven. Simpson pitched three innings of two-hit relief, striking out three, to finish the game.

Offensively, Stephens County took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, then created some space with a four-run fourth inning.

The Indians added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning to make the final margin of victory.

Seven different Indians knocked in runs.

Dylan Huff and Jacob Haddock each had two runs scored and an RBI for Stephens County.

With the win, the Indians are now 3-3 in region baseball play and 7-9 overall.

Johnson falls to 1-15 overall and 0-6 in the region with the loss.

Stephens County returns to the road for another region baseball game on Friday when the Indians visit North Hall.

First pitch on Friday from North Hall is set for 5:55 p.m.
