Indian Baseball Wins Region Opener

The Stephens County Indians broke open a 3-3 tie by scoring six runs over their final two turns at bat to defeat White County, 9-3, at the Reservation Friday night.

It was the region opener for both teams.

Kooper Briley went 4 for 4 with two RBIs for the Indians, while Chaz Bridges added a two-run single and Bryson Fowler had two hits and three RBIs.

Fowler teamed up on the mound with Zack Boyd for the win.

Boyd got the start and gave up three runs in four-plus innings.

Fowler finished out the game, keeping White County off the board.

Trey Cantrell took the loss for White County, who is now 2-5 on the season and 0-1 in region play.

The Indians move to 5-6 overall and 1-0 in region with the win.

Stephens County and White County will square off again tonight in Cleveland at 5:55 p.m.
